We are nearing the end of the first week of the school year and everyone is liking it and having fun. Christian had Tuesday off already due to Tropical Storm Fay, but he is back now and getting into routine.

Here are some smiles from the first day with their backbacks!

Happy 7th Birthday Christian

It is hard to believe he is 7 already, seems like just yesterday he was born. We share birthdays one day apart too. I was sure my whole pregnancy with him he would come on my birthday, but he made me wait one more day, he was the best belated birthday present! I am so happy to be here to celebrate his birthday with him.

Just born

And growing up way to fast - his 7th birthday cake photo!

Fun at the Science Museum

We took the kids to the Museum of Discovery and Science, and they had a great day. Olivia is old enough to walk around and play now too, so she thought it was fun to be like the big kids. We saw fish and turtles and many more animals, they played in kids zone, blowing bubbles and climbing all the fun things. They played with magnets, a recycling center, and also got to see the display of live frogs, who knew so many kinds exsisted??? They were all different colors, and Christian loved the poisinous ones the best, they were awfully cute, but oh so dangerous.

They have a whole plane / space ship play interactive area, they got to sit in the front of an old plane and touch all the dials, they got to pretend that they were flying, visit Mars and a bunch of other things.

Another busy, but fun summer day.

Lots of Fun and Working Too!

So to try and keep the kids entertained and also get something done at the same time, we decided to wash the car. They think this is great fun, they get to get soaked, squirting themselves and anything around they can find. In the process, my car gets cleaned. Of course it took alot of work from me too, but the end result was great, tired kids and a sparkly clean car!

Olivia's 1st Big Boo Boo

It finally happened after almost 7 years of being parents, an injury that makes you go running to the emergency room. Olivia was playing last night and slashed open left eyebrow. She fell or tripped and hit her eye on a metal Cars lunchbox the kids keep crayons on. No one is exactly sure what happened, as I was in a different room and Steven was in the kitchen, Sofia was with her and all we got is lunchbox and she has BLOOD! One look at it and we knew we had to head to ER, it was so deep. The kids went to the neighbors and we left the house and sped to the ER. Luckily they were not busy and we were seen within 5 minutes and they said stitches right away.

Olivia was not happy about any part of the visit, she cried when they put the id braclet on her foot, and every time someone touched her she was sure to let them know she was not happy about it. After waiting a half hour for medicine to numb the area, she received internal and external stitches. The hardest part was that they had to wrap her and strap her down so she did not move and she was screaming the entire time the pediatrician was stitching her eye. At the end she was getting pretty tired and started saying "all done", bless her little heart, she was more than ready to go.

Today she is happy and back to herself, these photos are from after we got home and all cleaned up, she was more than ready to go to bed. You would never know that she got hurt, but her parents still do, events like this leave lasting effects on us! I would rather go through chemo and all I did over and over again than have one of them hurt, that is something I just can not handle.

Going Green

I just read this article and am happy that I have purchased my first two cloth bags, and plan on building a collection and using them for shopping instead of plastic.

I think alot about "going green" and am beginning with little things and working our way towards making our home "greener".
